The active ingredient in Fenkarol is hifenadine hydrochloride ("hifenadine"). It belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines (medicines used to treat allergies). Unlike classic drugs in this class, hifenadine has a dual mechanism of action. This also explains the effectiveness of this drug in patients who have not responded to treatment with other antihistamines. Hifenadine does not have a pronounced inhibitory effect on the central nervous system, but in some cases, a mild sedative effect is observed.
