Pharmatex® 20 mg vaginal tablets are a local contraceptive with spermicidal action (the active substance destroys the spermatozoon shell). This method significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, but does not completely eliminate it. Efficacy depends on correct use. This contraceptive method is recommended for women of reproductive age in the following cases: when the use of oral contraceptives or an intrauterine device (IUD) is contraindicated; in women after childbirth or medical abortion, during breastfeeding and in the premenopausal period; when episodically protection against pregnancy is needed; in women who are taking oral contraceptives and have forgotten or taken a tablet late. Pharmatex® should also be used in the following cycle; as an additional means of local protection against pregnancy with an intrauterine device (especially when taking certain medications, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
