Lamisil cream is an antifungal medication that works by killing the fungi that cause skin problems. Lamisil cream is available without a prescription, so you can treat the following skin conditions without a doctor's advice (although for best results, use it with caution):
− Athlete's foot* (tinea pedis)
− Plantar tinea pedis
− Ringworm* (tinea cruris)
− Ringworm* (tinea corporis) −
Candidiasis of the skin (intertriginous dermatitis or inguinal tinea)
− Pityriasis versicolor* (tinea versicolor) Lamisil cream has a long-lasting effect.
When used at the recommended dosage, less than 10 out of 100 people with athlete's foot will become reinfected within 3 months of starting treatment.
Therapeutic indications Fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (e.g., T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis, and Epidermophyton floccosum, e.g., tinea pedis (athlete's foot), plantar tinea pedis, tinea cruris (athlete's foot), and tinea corporis (athlete's foot). Yeast skin infections, primarily caused by Candida species (e.g., Candida albicans). Tinea versicolor (athlete's foot) caused by Pityrosporum orbiculare (also known as Malassezia furfur).
