Maalox is an antacid that relieves symptoms caused by increased stomach acidity. Maalox protects the mucosa of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. Heartburn and esophageal-gastric regurgitation can be caused by dietary changes (acidic or spicy foods, alcohol, etc.) or certain medications (aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.). To reduce the likelihood of symptoms, follow the following instructions as closely as possible: do not eat a lot of fatty foods at mealtimes; avoid certain foods such as chocolate, spices, red pepper, fruit juices, carbonated drinks; vary your diet; keep your body weight low and get enough exercise; do not do heavy physical work after meals; do not smoke or drink too much alcohol.
