Visine contains the active substance tetrizoline hydrochloride. It belongs to a group of medicines called decongestants for ophthalmic use (medicines used to treat the eye).
Visine is used to treat temporary redness of the eye caused by minor non-infectious irritations such as smoke, dust, wind, chlorinated water, light or allergies in adults, adolescents and children from 2 years of age (see section 2). Visine should only be used in children over 2 years of age and under 6 years of age on the advice of a healthcare professional.
