The active ingredient in Bepanthen cream is dexpanthenol, which is part of a quickly absorbed, low-oil emulsion. In skin cells, dexpanthenol is quickly converted to pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid is involved in both skin formation and regeneration. Bepanthen cream is used:
• for the care of dry, rough, and cracked skin;
• for the treatment of minor skin injuries, such as burns, abrasions, skin irritations, diaper rash, chronic or bed sores, anal tears, etc.;
• for breast protection in nursing mothers and for the treatment of sore or cracked nipples.
Recommended for patients taking corticosteroids, on days when these medications are not used, or as an adjunctive treatment.
Therapeutic indications: Care of dry, rough, and cracked skin. Promotes healing and epithelialization of minor injuries (e.g., burns and abrasions), skin irritations (e.g., caused by radiation therapy, phototherapy, or ultraviolet radiation), diaper rash, chronic or pressure ulcers, skin tears around the anus, skin grafts, and cervical erosions. Recommended for patients taking corticosteroids, on days when these medications are not being used, or as an adjunct to medication. For breast protection in nursing mothers and for the treatment of sore or cracked nipples.
