The active ingredient of Bepanten ointment is dexpanthenol, which is enclosed in an oil emulsion that is well absorbed. In skin cells, dexpanthenol is rapidly converted to pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid is involved in both skin formation and rejuvenation. Bepanten ointment is used to treat and prevent abrasions, cracks, dry skin, regular breast care and cracked nipples during breastfeeding, when caring for babies as a protective layer against moisture caused by diapers and frayed, reddened skin and medicinal product in patients who received corticosteroids, as well as with interruptions in taking corticosteroids.
