Nizoral Shampoo is a medication for the treatment and prevention of skin infections caused by fungi or yeast. The shampoo can be used to treat both the scalp and larger areas of skin on the chest or face. It can be used for a variety of skin infections characterized by:
▪ Flaking of the scalp (dandruff);
▪ Reddish-brown patches with yellow or white scales, usually on the face or chest (seborrheic dermatitis);
▪ Small, brown or white, irregularly shaped spots on the body (pityriasis versicolor). You can treat and prevent these infections with Nizoral Shampoo.
Therapeutic indications: Skin diseases caused by Malassezia yeast (formerly known as Pityrosporum), such as:
▪ Treatment and prevention of pityriasis versicolor (dandruff) and seborrheic dermatitis.
▪ Treatment of tinea versicolor (topical form).
