This medication is a combination of guaifenesin and medicinal herbs with a calming effect. Guaifenesin relieves fear and anxiety and relaxes skeletal (striated) muscles. Novo-Passit is used for mild forms of neurasthenia, especially when accompanied by anxiety, fear, sadness, restlessness, increased irritability, decreased concentration, or fatigue. It is also used for mild insomnia, weakness, or memory impairment associated with neurosis, and as an adjunct in the treatment of migraines, vasomotor headaches caused by nervous system overload, psychosomatic vascular disorders with neurocirculatory dystonia, neurogenic tetany, facial pain, and menopausal syndrome. Novo-Passit is used as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders, dyspeptic syndrome without organic lesions, irritable bowel syndrome, and organic gastrointestinal diseases with obvious signs of neurosis. Novo-Passit is also used as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of psychosomatic dermatoses with itching (atopic eczema, urticaria, etc.).
