Choline salicylate, the active substance in Otinum, belongs to the group of "salicylates". It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and therefore reduces pain and inflammation in otitis media, tympanitis and otitis externa. The glycerin in the medicine softens the earwax, helping to remove it. After topical application to the ear, the drug has no systemic effect. This medicine is used to relieve the symptoms of ear pain in acute and chronic otitis media, otitis externa, and tympanitis.
