Smecta contains the active ingredient diosmectite, which is a naturally purified and standardized insoluble mineral clay.
The active ingredient in Smecta coats the mucous membrane and protects it by increasing the mucus’s resistance and binding to
pathogens, bacteria, viruses, and toxins.
Smecta is used:
- for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in children aged 2 years and older, in combination with an oral
rehydration solution, and in adults;
- for the symptomatic treatment of chronic (long-term) functional diarrhea in adults;
- for the symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel disorders in adults.
